Privacy Policy

NewsCatch is a news monitoring service that delivers relevance-filtered articles into Slack and Microsoft Teams channels. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it and how to have it deleted.

    Data we collect

Account data. Your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google returns. We use it to authenticate you and to contact you about the service.

Monitoring configuration. The sources, keywords, relevance thresholds, delivery schedules and channel settings you create. This is the data the product operates on.

Content data. Public article metadata and text we fetch from the sources you monitor, plus summaries, relevance scores and drafts generated from it.

Integration data. For Slack: the workspace and channel you select at install, and the incoming-webhook credential Slack issues for that channel. For Microsoft Teams: the tenant, team and channel identifiers, and the OAuth tokens or webhook URL needed to deliver messages.

Product usage data. Events such as sign-in, connecting an integration and creating a draft, used to understand whether the product is working. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising.

    What the Slack integration accesses

The Slack installation uses an incoming webhook scoped to the single channel you select during authorisation. NewsCatch can post to that channel and nothing else.

NewsCatch does not read your Slack messages, message history, files, direct messages or member list. The webhook credential is stored server-side, encrypted at rest, and is never exposed to the browser or to other users.

If you remove NewsCatch from your Slack workspace, Slack notifies us and we delete the stored webhook for that workspace. Disconnecting inside NewsCatch has the same effect.

What the Microsoft Teams integration accesses

When you connect Microsoft Teams by signing in with Microsoft, NewsCatch requests only the permissions needed to list the teams and channels you can post to and to send messages to the channel you choose. Tokens are stored server-side and refreshed automatically; they are deleted when you disconnect.

If you connect using a Teams Workflows webhook instead, we store only that webhook URL and use it solely to post alerts.

    AI processing

Summaries, relevance explanations and drafts are produced by third-party large language model providers. Article text and your keyword configuration may be sent to those providers to generate that output. We do not send your Slack or Microsoft credentials to them.

AI-generated output can be inaccurate or incomplete. Every alert links to the source article so you can verify it.

    Who we share data with

We do not sell personal data. We share data only with the infrastructure providers required to run the service: our hosting and database provider, our email provider, our AI model providers, and Slack or Microsoft for the delivery you have configured.

We may disclose data where legally required, or to protect the security and integrity of the service.

    Retention and deletion

Monitoring configuration and content are retained while your account is active. Integration credentials are deleted as soon as you disconnect or uninstall.

You can delete your account and all associated monitoring data at any time by emailing contact@newscatch.app from your account address. We action deletion requests within 30 days.

    Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email contact@newscatch.app.

NewsCatch is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

    Changes and contact

If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email.

Questions about this policy, or about a specific integration, can go to contact@newscatch.app or via the support page.
